Original painting of a witch casting a protection spell. She is flanked by two protective Doberman dogs, and two starlings flit around her head. Starlings symbolise connection to nature and others. Dobermans are such striking dogs, with their horn-like pointed ears and steady, unbreakable gazes. Terrifying to find yourself staring back at them. I wanted this witch piece to have a slightly ragged feel, the look on her face one of absolute concentration and hands straining upwards. There’s a pentagram talisman hanging on the tree and two starlings swirl overhead. Starlings symbolise communication. And how safe would it feel to have these two hounds as your guard dogs?
